Sicilian Cooking Class
Duration: 1 hour
Follow the seasons like a true Sicilian
Come and join Carla in her Sicilian cooking class to prepare a true Sicilian favourite. Each recipe is based around what is in season for sustainable cooking. She will start this cooking class by taking you on a journey of Sicily with the ingredients for each dish and explaining why and how to cook with them. Enjoy the fruits of your labour at the end of the class and maybe even paired with your favourite Sicilian wine.
For Carla’s May cooking classes she will be preparing Maltagliati con sugo alla trapanese (Maltagliati pasta with a Trapanese Pesto) followed by Filetto di spigola in sfoglia di zucchine (Sea Bass fillet with courgette pastry) a menu fit for any Spring evening.
Join Carla’s in her June Sicilian cooking class where she will be preparing Involtini di carne alla siciliana (Sicilian meat rolls) followed by Ravioli di ricotta dolci (Sweet Ricotta Ravioli) a delicious menu to share with friends and family.
This cooking class is suitable for novices and enthusiasts to Sicilian cooking thanks to Carla’s teaching style and classic recipes.
What you’ll learn:
- To prepare traditional sicilian dishes with local produce that doesn’t break the bank
- The history and culture behind the ingredients to impress your friends at dinner parties
- To set your kitchen up like a chef and enjoy hours of cooking with ease
What you’ll need:
If you are planning to cook along with Livia then the following equipment would be useful:
- A wooden board
- A rolling pin
- A pasta cutter and/or a knife
In case you don’t have some of the items listed above, don’t worry, we can find an alternative.
Don’t forget to buy a bottle of Prosecco or wine, to have a ‘virtual Saluti’ together at Midday!
Carla Zanardi is our very own Sicilian ‘Mama’. Carla has been teaching her Sicilian delights for over 10 years with Flavours and can turn any novice into a master chef by the end of her lessons. You’ll get immersed in Sicilian culture and traditions as you cook dishes such as Polpette al limone and Caponata – so much so you’ll feel as though you were surrounded by olive groves and azure seas.
