Travelling Western Europe through art
In this class, Jaclyn will demonstrate and take you through a journey of Western Europe; each week concentrating on a different country and creating art inspired by an artist from that country.
You will be sent a copy of this Zoom class after you have attended so that you can follow along at your leisure later on.
Course Outline
Week 1 – Italy. Creating a Morandi-inspired still-life
Week 2 – Spain. Creating a Picasso-inspired portrait
Week 3 -France.Creating a Matisse-inspired collage
Week 4 – Switzerland. Creating a Paul Klee-inspired monoprint
Week 5 – Netherlands. Learning to draw portraits inspired by Rembrandt
Week 6 – Scotland. Creating a watercolour inspired by Cadell.
Objects needed
Still life pots and vases, fabric for still life. spotlight
Reference materials
photo of yourself printed out in black and white or a photo for someone else. images from newspapers, magazines, etc of nature.
What you’ll need:
To join this 6-week course, our tutor suggests that you have the following materials.
- set of acrylic paints and brushes
- palette
- water pot
- old rags for wiping brushes
- A3 hot pressed watercolour pad 300gsm
- pencil
- rubber
- craft knife
- blending stick
- tracing paper
- PVA glue
- scissors
- a4 cardboard
- printing brayer
- a4 computer printing paper
- set of watercolours and brushes
- masking tape.
Your Tutor
Jaclyn Stuart is an artist who works in St Andrews Scotland. She graduated from Grays School of Art with a BA Hons in Fine Art in 2000. She has taught art in many establishments including lecturing in Further Education. She now runs her own teaching business in St Andrews along with making and selling her own artwork. She works in watercolour, acrylics, oils, and inks.
