Continue your journey with this 6-week beginners learn Italian course. This course is for you if you want to learn Italian and have no previous knowledge of the language. In this course, your tutor will take you through the basics of Italian vocabulary and grammatical structures in order to create sentences and hold conversations. As you increase your knowledge you will also see your confidence grow each week.
Course Outline
Week 1 – Welcome to Italy
Introduce yourself, spell your name, and give other personal information.
Week 2 – Getting by with your level
Read a menu and order food and drink at a café or restaurant (communicate in a limited range of predictable and simple contexts)
Week 3 – Directions and Public Transport
Talk about yourself and your family. Learn vocabulary about relationships.
Week 4 – Staying in Italy and Reservations
Address people formally and informally (recognise and use basic Italian phrases in formal and informal communication). Ask people how they are doing and respond accordingly.
Week 5 – Shopping and Visiting Local Markets
Exchange contact details with others: introduce other people and talk about yourself; describe people’s physical appearance and personality; describe what you are wearing.
Week 6 – Planning Holidays and Get-Togethers with Friends
“Do you like travelling?” – learn how to say to people you like something in Italian. Share your past travelling experiences, and talk about future travel plans.
This Learn Italian class is suitable for beginners and those who want to go back to basics for a refresh in their language skills.
What you’ll learn
- How to communicate in a variety of situations ranging from conversations about daily life, experiences, and future plans
- Hold a basic conversation using your grammatical structures such as nouns, adjectives, present and past tenses of verbs.
- Ease yourself into the language at a relaxed pace
What you’ll need
All you need is paper and pen to take notes and a love for all things Italian.
Your Tutor
Carlo is an Italian linguistics and philology graduate of the University of Milan and has taught Italian in a number of language schools in Edinburgh. Carlo focuses on teaching you to speak like a native Italian. You’ll find yourself immersed in conversation as your confidence grows.
